Gracefully Aroused

Gracefully Aroused: The Best of K D Grace

From a love spell that doesn’t quite go to plan to a farmhand who needs a little discipline; from a woman who is addicted to the confessional to a personal trainer with a very unorthodox method of guaranteeing his clients they’ll look fab come bikini season, K D Grace will tell you a naughty story with a twist. Before there was Ms Holly and the Pet Shop, before there were sexy ghosts, before Grace Marshall upped the romance ante, K D Grace was into quickies, and here’s a selection of her naughtiest.

Hired Hand  - Pretty city boy, Tim Harris, is the last man Suzie Sheridan would have hired to help her on the farm had he not been the only one who applied for the job. But with strict discipline generously applied in all the right places, even Suzie is amazed at just how good a hired hand Tim turns out to be …

Personal Trainer - Penny Davis can’t afford to hire a personal trainer to get her fit for bikini season until ex-military hard man, Hawk Sturgis, offers her an unorthodox fitness regimen and an even more unorthodox payment plan, guaranteed to have her heating up the beach in her new bikini just in time for the summer hols.

Accidental Hitchhiker  - On a road trip across America, Liz Martin’s car breaks down in the middle of nowhere South Dakota, and the ride a Good Samaritan lorry driver offers her is not exactly the one she expected.

Productivity - Under the careful supervision of his unorthodox management consultant, a stressed company CEO learns a hands-on technique guaranteed to up productivity.

Flaws - Love spells are the most dangerous kind of magic. Mick Denver learns the hard way when he enlists Sally Haddon, a witch who specialises in sex magic, to help him win the affections of his new co-worker, the exquisite and dangerous Darlene.

Hard Times at the Nymphomaniac Rehabilitation Facility - Sadie’s sexual appetite is out of control, and a spell at the Nymphomaniac Rehabilitation Facility is intended to put it right. It isn’t long before fellow inmate Carol is showing her how to bend the facility’s strict rules, earning them both punishments that are more than worth the crime.

Confessions - Confession is good for the soul, but Hail Marys and Our Fathers aren’t nearly enough to gain absolution when Jilly confesses to an unsuspecting priest that confession makes her come.

Excavations - While volunteering on an archaeological dig, Gina and Mike discover new and exciting ways to help their workaholic professor relieve stress – and he introduces them to one or two methods of his own, which are far from academic.

Seeing Red - We all give off body heat, but only Jenny can see the red glow it gives off, darker and more intense the more turned on we become. When she’s compelled to follow a fellow bus passenger whose scarlet desires are too powerful to ignore, she learns the real secret of her unique vision.

Pheromones  - An unusually powerful sense of smell gives Chloe the ability to sniff out the scents of people in lust. When she volunteers for a research trial into pheromones, she doesn’t realise the scientist in charge will have the perfect, sexy aroma she’s always craved in a lover.

Hired Hand

It irritated Suzie the way Tim Harris worked without a shirt, like he didn’t know how distracting that was. She watched him muck out the barn, grunting slightly with each thrust of the pitch fork, breathing heavily from the effort. If she closed her eyes she could easily imagine him doing something else. To her.

She dragged her gaze away from the hard play of muscles, muscles that, no doubt, came from some cushy air conditioned gym, which is probably where he got his tan.

Working bare-chested might cool him down a bit, but it only made her hotter. She had nearly forgotten the clit-stiffening scent of sweaty maleness, earthy and slightly piquant, a scent that, amid the barnyard animal smells, caused her own animal nature to squirm and stretch and sniff.

He was too damn good looking to be a real hired hand. From Chicago, he said, by way of London – in England! He arrived complete with an accent that never failed to make her tits tight. Rural Missouri was a long way from London. What would a pretty city boy know about farming? He would have been the last man she would have hired had he not been the only one who applied for the job.

‘Let me see your hands,’ she commanded.

He jumped and nearly dropped the pitch fork. ‘I didn’t hear you come in, Suzie.’

She tried to keep her eyes on his and not the muscles of his belly, tensing and relaxing into his low-slung jeans that always seemed to be hiding something just barely contained, something she hadn’t stopped thinking about since he arrived at Sheridan Farm.

He removed his gloves and held his hands out, palms up for her inspection, offering her a warm smile. ‘Blisters are healed. I’m starting to get callouses.’

‘About damn time. I’m not paying you to be an invalid.’ She couldn’t help herself; she gave his palms an open-handed stroke, thinking how good those callouses would feel against more sensitive parts of her body.

As she did so, he dropped a glove. She stooped to pick it up, closer to his groin than she intended, close enough to notice his package was straining his Levis this morning. The tangy, male rutting smell made her mouth water. Suddenly the sweat between her breasts wasn’t the only moisture she was feeling. She fought back the urge to jerk open his fly and bury her face against his bulge, reminding herself she hadn’t earned the respect of the other farmers without discipline and self-control.

After her father’s death, she kept the family farm working against all odds, and she wasn’t going to let some city boy’s bulging jeans slow her down. She stood quickly and handed back his glove.

‘I’m going into town to get the seed corn. You can drive a tractor, right?’

‘I can drive anything you need me to drive,’ he replied.

She assumed that meant he didn’t know a standard transmission from a pogo stick. But when the time came Tim was as good as his word. Ike Melbourne had offered her the use of his tractor for the day, since his son was getting married. While Tim ploughed the field behind the barn she used Ike’s tractor to plant the south 40. It was supposed to rain on Wednesday. With the extra tractor hopefully they’d be done before the weather hit.

She planned to plant into the night, breaking long enough to tend livestock before dark. She hurried about feeding the chickens and the pigs, hearing the steady purr of Tim’s tractor in the field behind the barn. She was checking the water tank in the pig pen when she noticed the silence.

Wiping her hands on her jeans, she walked around the side of the barn. Beyond the stand of oak and elm just on the other side of the fence the tractor stood empty and silent.

Adele peered out of her front window. Yes, there they were again. Donna and Josie, linking arms and chatting away. Just a few short weeks ago, Adele would have been part of that conversation. But now, inexplicably, it seemed she was no longer in the inner circle. The two women had scaled back their invites for afternoon tea, their book club meetings weren’t so frequent and Adele felt as though she was being deliberately excluded. And she had no idea why. There’d been no falling out, no cross words, nothing.

Adele decided she wasn’t going to take it any more. If she was going to be ignored and left out, she at least wanted to know why.

Watching the pair head into Josie’s house across the street without so much as a glance in the direction of her house, Adele drew away from the window.

Hurrying, so as to not lose her nerve, Adele slipped on her sandals, left the house and pulled the front door shut behind her. She walked across the quiet street. It was a cul-de-sac, so there was no thru-traffic; and, it being the middle of the day, most people were at work, including the husbands of herself and the other two women. The lack of other company during the day was what had originally brought the three women together, but now it seemed Adele was surplus to requirements. Blinking back angry tears, Adele stomped across to Josie’s house, ready for a confrontation.

Once she got closer, however, she noticed something amiss. Despite the time of day, the living room blinds were closed. The sun wasn’t even at this side of the house yet, so that wasn’t the reason. Intrigued, Adele crept closer. Lots of wild thoughts began to run through her head. They were obviously up to something they wanted to keep secret. But what? Extra-marital activity? Criminal activity? Or worse?

Determined to get answers, Adele walked right up to the window. The ladies obviously hadn’t been too careful when they’d drawn the blinds. One of the slats had caught on something on the window sill and it wasn’t quite flush to the others, creating a gap. A gap perfect for peering through. Begging to be peered through.

Never one to pass up an opportunity, Adele gingerly peeked through the hole, half expecting one of the girls to be looking back, glaring angrily at the intrusion. She needn’t have worried. There was nobody there. Not right by the window, anyway. As her eyes adjusted to the darkness of the room, Adele could make out shapes moving in the room, over by the sofa.

On the sofa, she realised, as her brain caught up with what her eyes were seeing. There were two people on the couch, and they were…

Evil Companions by Michael Perkins

We had gotten aboard a roller coaster, and it was a race for our lives, on a one-way track.

In New York City during the heady, tumultuous years of the 1960s, a young couple meet. Together they embark on a dark erotic journey into forbidden sexuality - travelling on an incandescent road to nowhere in their tragic fall from grace.

Scorching and poignant, and banned upon its first publication in England, Evil Companions is a masterpiece of contemporary erotica.

'Evil Companions is a meticulous miracle of language and observation . . . A dark jewel on the erotic landscape.' Samuel R. Delany

Some of what happened to us, what we did to each other, might have been prevented. But we had gotten aboard a roller coaster, and it was a race for our lives, on a one-way track.

Circumstances, the mood of the time, made our explorations seem natural, forecast in all our stars. Most of them I haven’t seen in years, and wouldn’t care to—except for Anne, that is. I’ve waited for her to come back, to finish the story. Maybe she won’t because it doesn’t have an end, or because neither of us wants it to end.

Our life together was a story we told each other at night, and we were always careful to consider the obligations of plot and character. Anne, especially, watched the dialogue and considered speech patterns, having decided that the nuances of conversation and sound often tell the listener more than a character would ordinarily want to tell. I had the same feeling about faces. We did more than tell each other stories at night, though; we lived our whole lives then, like—vampires. History is made at night, said Frank Borzage.

We met during rehearsals of a play I was doing in a café theatre on the East Side. She sat at a table on the side sipping coffee through a straw, and she looked ready to scream. She was with friends, some people I knew slightly and hated. It was obvious she was with them, but not of them. They ignored each other. The play was dingy and amateurish, and I became quite loud in my objections to it; I had the lead, but I had taken it in desperation, looking for anything to rouse me from my lethargy. The actress I was working with missed her cue for the third time and I exploded, cursing her, the director, and the script, which I felt no affinity with.

Something hit me in the middle of the back—the girl at the table had thrown her coffee at me. I stood frozen, feeling the hot liquid run down my back.

“You fucking faggot son-of-a-bitch! You actor! If you weren’t so goddamned illiterate, you could handle that script!” Everyone just looked at her. As quickly as she had flared up, she calmed down, and sank back into her seat. She looked so embarrassed she might have sunk into the floor.

I didn’t say anything; I went to the men’s room and cleaned myself off as well as I could. Then I sat on the toilet and smoked a cigarette. When I got up, I went straight to her table. She got up to join me without a word.

“Come on, let’s take a walk,” I said. It was already dark outside. I hadn’t realized I had been working so long. She had a peculiar gait, like a sailor’s; we walked along. “Did I hurt you?” she asked me. “Let me see.” She pushed me in a doorway and slipped her hand around so she could feel my back. Her hand slipped up under my coat and over my buttocks with a man’s urgent touch. “You’re still wet. Come home with me and you can get dried off.” It was practically a command. She took my hand as if it were already a part of her, ready to pull me along if I hesitated.

The building she lived in was one part tenement and two parts gingerbread house. I went galumphing up the stairs behind her, noticing the runs in her stockings. She wore stocking with seams down the back, those clay-colored things my mother used to wear.

Her apartment had its own particular smell, an aromatic combination I have never been able to forget: a hideous incense called Dhoop, marijuana, and an exciting odor of pure, raw sex, mixed with the smell of her cats. She had five of them; the leader was an old gray tom she called Wino, who was missing one eye and any sense of decorum. I learned that it wasn’t unusual for him to leap on guests with his claws out, or to urinate in the middle of the floor and stand there proudly, daring you to rebuke him. I wanted to call him Jean Genet.

She still had my hand. She pulled me in the bedroom, but it was occupied by a young Puerto Rican who was rolling his eyes at the ceiling. As soon as he saw us, he rolled off and staggered out into the other room. “Sit down and take off your pants.” I sat on the bed and watched her move around. She seemed unconscious of my presence as she took off her clothes. When she was naked in the red light she sat down beside me and, without a word, unbuckled my belt and pulled my trousers off.

“Don’t be uptight. You’re an actor, aren’t you? Here’s a situation you can play your heart out in.”

“Meaning you?”

“Oh man, don’t be muley! You act like a thickhead. It’s hot in here, take off those damn clothes. I don’t trust anybody in clothes.” I did what she asked. My scrotum was tight and wrinkled, and I felt like washing my feet. I noticed that hers were black. Her breasts were small and sharp, the nipples bloodred.

She noticed me looking at them.

“Touch. Go on. Then maybe you’ll feel better,” she said dispassionately. I dragged my underwear over my crotch and sat back, away from her. “What’s the matter? Is my hostility showing?” she asked.

"Turn it off,” I said. “Turn what off?”

"Whatever the fuck this game is. What’s your name, anyway?”

“Anne, sometimes.”

“Well, Anne, what’s the game? I thought you hated me. It was a bad script.”

“If you thought that, you wouldn’t have come home with me. You’re out in the cold. I could tell that when I first saw you.”

One Night Stand with Veronica Tower

Anybody ever had a One Night Stand? Few things are as exciting as an unexpected night of passion. One moment you’re having drinks at the bar, the next you’re making out in a cab and then before you know exactly how it happened you’re pulling each other’s clothes off and having loud, passionate sex.

At least, that’s what happened to Lisa and John in my novella One Night Stand. It was going to be a hot little short story like a few thousand others out there going from first meeting to orgasmic conclusion in a few thousand words—but, nobody really wants a book that’s just like a few thousand others. So I started thinking about how to shake up the plot and really spice up the action.

So Lisa got what could kindly be called a relationship phobia which leads her to go to extraordinary lengths to put obstacles in the path of her new relationship with John. She doesn’t want to just let him go—she wants to keep them from becoming too serious about each other. So she drags him into the world of swinging. It’s a Tricky Business engaging in a series of sexy encounters with strangers that set Lisa’s hormones on fire. But while all of the sex helps her to keep her relationship-centered fears far away, the strangers aren’t satisfying the needs of her heart.

John isn’t happy about it either. All he wants is Lisa and the games are driving him crazy in the wrong sort of way. So in the third volume of the series, he takes advantage of being Snowed In, to see if he can force the issue and turn his and Lisa’s initial one night stand into something a lot more meaningful and long lasting.

It’s a fun journey with a lot of twists and turns. I hope you’ll hop aboard for the ride.
