Wanton is a Ring Dreams snippet - a short story to introduce the cast of my soon to be released Ring Dreams series contracted by Gypsy Shadow Publishing. The first book in the series, Headlocks and Hexes is scheduled to be released in September.

Take a trip back in time to find out how Courtney and Darren began their rocky relationship while they were both first breaking into the wrestling business.

Silence Hides Violence

I'll never forget that now infamous Monday. My psycho ex called me at work and asked if I'd see The Wrestling Observer website. I hadn't, so he told me to go look at it and call him back. That is how I learned of the deaths of Nancy, Daniel and Chris Benoit.

Instead of calling him, I called a mutual friend of mine and Nancy's hoping and praying it was all some kind of stupid work. He answered on the first ring, something he NEVER does, and his first words were "He killed them."
Having never been fond of Nancy's first husband, my response was, "Kevin killed them?"

He told me what happened and warned me not to watch RAW that night. Then we just held onto our cell phones and cried together. Much like we did when he called to tell me about Eddie Gilbert's untimely death many years before.

Driving home from work I felt a tightness in my throat and knew that he'd strangled her before this information was released to the public. I was off work the next three days and it was all a fog of news reports and disbelief.

Nancy saved my life by getting me out of the exact same situation of dealing with someone with post concussion syndrome. Not that it excuses Chris' actions, but he didn't know what he was doing when he killed Nancy in the midst of a PCS blackout. If you've never experienced this firsthand there is no way to accurately describe how terrifying it can be.

I spent most of 2008 in therapy after being diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome from what I'd endured with the psycho ex and Survivor's Guilt from wishing it had been me instead of Nancy who died.

Part of my therapy was to make a vow to Nancy that my voice would be ours in speaking out against domestic violence. I encourage anyone in a mentally or physically abusive relationship to seek help. You can do a Google search for assistance in your area or email me and I will try to find a solution for you.

Don't kid yourself, it will happen again. It's not going to get better. Get out and save yourself. That same friend I cried with told me something that pretty much changed my life - The only person you have to be accountable for is yourself!

If you know someone who might be dealing with a domestic issue encourage them to seek help. Offer them a place to stay or just some quiet time to talk.

Do it for Nancy, or better yet, do it for yourself!

Summer Solstice

I'd like to wish Odessa and her "Will" a happy anniversary on their Mid Summer Handfasting.

"Will" thought the whole thing was a little weird, but so many odd years ago Odessa talked him into doing the whole Pagan marriage ritual. It wasn't like he could take her down to the courthouse or have a more traditional wedding considering that he already had a legal wife who wasn't about to release her hold over him.

And of course "Will" did enjoy the partaking of the Meed and watching his new Pagan bride dance naked around a bonfire.

In ancient times it was believed that evil spirits liked to run amok on this day. The mood stabilizer St. Johns Wort was created to ward off those spirits. Maybe Odessa and "Will" should have enjoyed a dose of that herb on their special occasion.

My Spirit Guide From The Other Side clawed her way into my head Sunday and didn't want to let go until about four minutes before my alarm rang this morning. Odessa is obsessed with telling her story the way she wants it told. Even if it means implicating someone with committing murder or making a person who's very much alive look like the scum of the earth. I've tried to explain this whole legal libel thing to her, even if a story is written under the guise of fiction, but she doesn't get it.

I wholeheartedly believe her story. I know her lover's death was a murder and not a suicide. I know she's telling me the truth. But, how the hell do I go about telling the story without getting sued?

She has shown me what really happened in some very detailed and graphic dreams. Or should I call them nightmares? Because the way she chooses to reveal the story makes it a total nightmare.

Last night she took it one step further by bringing Nancy along for the ride. Nancy believes her. I already believed her, she didn't have to go and bring Nancy into the story. Especially considering how close it is to the anniversary of Nancy's murder.

Odessa loved this man with every bit of her heart. He's the only man she ever deeply and completely loved. It still hurts her to know that she played the motivating role in the things that happened to lead up to his death. He might still be alive today if she hadn't gone and given the ultimatum.

I also do not doubt that he loved her, at that point in his life she was the ONLY person he trusted and confided in. Her ultimatum could have very well pushed him over the edge. But it didn't. We know the truth, it was his wife who fell into the abyss, not him.

He was a known alcoholic and also suffered from post concussion syndrome. To put it politely, even in life she was not the most stable of individuals. I think she may have been bi-polar and unmedicated, not that I'm a doctor or anything, I just know Odessa better than anyone other than him.

There's was a match made in heaven, or maybe more accurately hell...

The Big Reveal

Now that the contract has been officially signed I am excited to announce that my Ring Dreams series has been contracted by Gypsy Shadow Publishing.

They are a new e-publisher small enough to listen to and take care of their writer's needs and large enough to offer great distribution through all the regular e-publishing sites such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Smashwords.

I can't tell you how excited I am to have finally found a publisher who gets my unique voice. So far Denise and Charlotte have been a pleasure to work with and I am looking forward to the editing process. My characters are even more excited that their stories are finally going to be told in the way they want them presented to our readers.

Headlocks & Hexes will be the first release. I don't have a date yet, so please keep checking back for more details. I have Desire ready to go out next. Then it will be Seances & Suplexes. After that I plan on starting a 4th book in the series, Deception and Billy is already in my ear about the as of yet untitled 5th book.

As we approach the release date I will be sharing interviews with all my main characters and posting tidbits about how the series originally fell into place. I already have character profiles up at and will also be including each character's interview there.

I plan on taking a writing break for the next couple of weeks to turn things over to my alter ego Edie Rohde. She plans on finishing up her dark edgy young adult debut novel, SHATTERED. We think it will have crossover appeal to our audience for the Ring Dreams series since it features several of our favorite and not so favorite characters reliving their teen years.

We are also eagerly awaiting Laurell K. Hamilton's latest book, HitList, to arrive from Amazon. I do love me some Anita Blake and Ms. Hamilton is such an awesome role model as well as an amazing writer.
