Ohh La La

I wish that I knew what I know now, when I was younger.

Seven years ago to today I moved to Nashville. What a hell of a ride it has been. I've grown so much as a person that I don't even think I would recognize the girl I was then compared to the woman I've become now.

It was the relationship with the brain damaged pro wrestler that led me to Music City, then a job that made me decide to stay. Now I have neither of those things in my life. Thank Goddess!

At least it gave me plenty of story material for my Ring Dreams series. I'd always dabbled with writing, but never took it seriously until I used it as my escape from that horrible domestic situation. I used to lock myself up in the bedroom with the dogs and my laptop and try to write myself into a better place. When I first started out I was clueless of craft and technique. Headlocks & Hexes has probably been rewritten close to a million times since I first started working on it in 2007.

Jump to 2011 and I've completed three manuscripts and have an offer for publication. I'm almost there, teetering on the abyss of taking the giant leap into the next phase of my writing career.

None of this would have been possible if I hadn't joined Romance Writers of America and discovered my local Music City Romance Writers chapter. These incredible ladies made me feel welcome from my very first meeting and I have learned so much from them. We've celebrated each other's accomplishments and they always keep me inspired to push my writing to the next level. Without them I never would have gotten to where my work was decent enough to interest a publisher.

If I hadn't of moved to Nashville, I never would have found Harry. That dog is the love of my life. I didn't rescue him, he rescued me. Some days he's been my only reason for getting out of bed in the morning. There is nothing like the unconditional love of a dog.

I do miss my mom and getting to see my nieces on a regular basis. I miss the tennis program at The Asheville Racquet Club, my coach Alex, and my hitting partner Katheryn. But, I suppose that for right now, I guess this is where I am meant to be.

Who knows what the future holds?

"Follow your goals, be true to your heart’s deepest dream, and the rest of your life will work better, because dreams have to be chased, happiness can’t be chased. If you chase happiness, it runs, but if you chase your goals, you catch them." - Laurell K. Hamilton
This is why I get up earlier than I have to every morning and take my Macbook to work an hour early to get in my writing time. This is why I write through most breaks and lunches. This is why I come home from work, walk my dog, and crack open the MacBook to write some more.
This is why I listen to Odessa and always respect and honor the voices inside my head.
This is who I am. I am writer. I have stories that have to be told.
Somehow, someway, someday, you will see at least one of my pen names on the New York Times Best Seller list.

Bide The Rede

Bide within the Law you must, in perfect Love and perfect Trust.
Live you must and let to live, fairly take and fairly give.
For tread the Circle thrice about to keep unwelcome spirits out.
To bind the spell well every time, let the spell be said in rhyme.
Light of eye and soft of touch, speak you little, listen much.
Honor the Old Ones in deed and name, let love and light be our guides again.
Deosil go by the waxing moon, chanting out the joyful tune.
Widdershins go when the moon doth wane, and the werewolf howls by the dread wolfsbane.
When the Lady's moon is new, kiss the hand to Her times two.
When the moon rides at Her peak then your heart's desire seek.
Heed the North winds mighty gale, lock the door and trim the sail.
When the Wind blows from the East, expect the new and set the feast.
When the wind comes from the South, love will kiss you on the mouth.
When the wind whispers from the West, all hearts will find peace and rest.
Nine woods in the Cauldron go, burn them fast and burn them slow.
Birch wood in the fire goes to represent what the Lady knows.
Oak in the forest, towers with might in the fire it brings the God's insight.
Rowan is a tree of power causing life and magick to flower.
Willows at the waterside stand ready to help us to the Summerland.
Hawthorn is burned to purify and to draw faerie to your eye.
Hazel-the tree of wisdom and learning- adds its strength to the bright fire burning.
White are the flowers of Apple tree that brings us fruits of fertility.
Grapes grow upon the vine giving us both joy and wine.
Fir does mark the evergreen to represent immortality seen.
But - Elder is the Lady's tree burn it not or cursed you'll be.
Four times the Major Sabbats mark in the light and in the dark.
As the old year starts to wane the new begins, it's now Samhain.
When the time for Imbolg shows watch for flowers through the snows.
When the wheel begins to turn soon the Beltane fires will burn.
As the wheel turns to Lammas night power is brought to magick rite.
Four times the Minor Sabbats fall use the Sun to mark them all.
When the wheel has turned to Yule light the log the Horned One rules.
In the spring, when night equals day time for Ostara to come our way.
When the Sun has reached it's height time for Oak and Holly to fight.
Harvesting comes to one and all when the Autumn Equinox does fall.
Heed the flower, bush, and tree By the Lady blessed you'll be.
Where the rippling waters go cast a stone, the truth you'll know.
When you have and hold a need, harken not to others greed.
With a fool no season spend Lest you be counted as his friend.
Merry Meet and Merry Part bright the cheeks and warm the heart.
Mind the Three-fold Laws you should three times bad and three times good.
When misfortune is enow wear the star upon your brow.
True in love you must ever be unless your love is false to thee.
Eight words the Rede fulfil "An' ye harm none, do what ye wilt".

Moon of the Singing Sword

I found this beautiful of a Scorpio Full Moon at Revolution Lifestyle. This site also provides some very interesting information on what is often referred to as the Flower Moon.

Confession Time:  I've been a very bad witch these last few days. I've not felt well and Odessa has been running amok inside my head. Being sick over the weekend, and short on pills, I didn't take my Cymbalta so let's just say I've been a little out of whack. Goddess please let the refill arrive before I run out on Friday.

I was so out of it that I didn't even realize until today that there is a full moon tonight. Although mine and Odessa's spellwork from last night was most definitely Scorpio inspired. My significant other has a shall we say mentally disturbed ex "wifey" who lies and manipulates and is too stupid to know she's being worked.

Yesterday ex "wifey" decided to get bitchy with me. BIG MISTAKE! Odessa does not take kindly to anyone screwing with me or mine. My spirit guide decided we needed to get down and dirty and throw a little karma back at ex "wifey". Okay, a heaping helping of bad karma to make her pay for her wrongs of three, which counting all of us, equals nine.

I'm a Mars in Scorpio which mean when it comes to anything regarding sex or my mate I'm lethal when angered. Scorpio is all about Intensity. Odessa and I got very intense with a chanting spell last night.

Of course Odessa gets intense every time she decides to throw down on someone and with my passion my spirit guide from the other side was literally out for blood. After we sealed our spell she tucked me into bed and set off to begin her dirty work. I slept like a baby and awoke in the middle of the night to find that Odessa had turned the lamp on in the living room. She does this from time to time just to let me know she's there and she's always got my back.

I woke up this morning feeling like a brand new person. What we did was very cathartic and most definitely justified. Now all we have to do is sit back and watch the ex "wife's" world crumble. She certainly picked the wrong witches to try to fuck with and now she's going to learn that karma is an even bigger bitch than Odessa and myself combined.

The moral of this little story? Don't piss off an un-medicated witch on the eve of a full moon. Especially one with heavy duty backup of the likes of Odessa. The two of us together are indestructible.

The Last Soul

If you think the cover is hot just wait until you read Carolyn Rosewood's debut novella The Last Soul.

This was my last sneak read on the iPhone while pretending to be busy at work. Let's just say if you knew where I work, I'm in IT at a Christian Publishinghouse, you would find that extra amusing. I read the whole story on a slow Friday afternoon.

The best word to describe this story is HOT. You've got a sexy demon assigned to seduce what might be one of the few last really decent guys left on the face of the earth. Just another day at the job for Faina, until she winds up falling for Jace. You've got to go buy this story to find out what happens because I'm not about to give away the kick-ass ending. Trust me, your Kindle will thank you.

The characters are so well developed you'll find yourself rooting for them. The plot is so tight and fast paced that you won't be able to stop reading. And did I mention there's lots and lots of hot steamy sex???

Carolyn's next book, Haunted Heart, is scheduled to be released by Etopia Press this summer, so be on the lookout for another great read for a talented new author.
