Living In Color

One of the many awesome features of my new iPhone is the ability to download the Kindle and iBooks apps. This has allowed me to turn my phone into a best of both worlds e-reader. There is even an application called Overdrive when I can check out both audio and ebooks from my local library. With all these features who needs an actual Kindle, Nook, Sony, or any other e-reader?

The first book I tried on the Kindle app was Trish Milburn's latest release - Living in Color. If this were a print book I'd be adding it to my keeper shelf. This is one of those books that you just don't want to end. The characters are so well developed that you quickly fall right into their world and even after I finished the book I couldn't help wondering what might happen next in their lives.

Living in Color is the story of daughter going back to her hometown for the funeral of her father. A man she loathes for the way he battered and beat down her mother. The daughter winds up taking her grieving mother on a road trip that forever changes both their lives. I don't want to give away too much of the plot because it's such a great book that you really need to just read it to fully appreciate the way the story unfolds.

Trish Milburn is a member of my RWA chapter - Music City Romance Writers. She has been an inspiration to me since I joined the group. She spent years honing her craft before she finally got her first sell with Harlequin. I admired her perseverance and celebrated right along with her when I actually saw her first book in the aisle at Kroger. It made me believe that maybe someday I would see one of my books in a store too.

Since that first sell, Trish has published more books with Harlequin and sold two Young Adult novels to Razorbill books writing as Tricia Mills. She recently sold a three book YA paranormal series that I am looking forward to reading. With her busy writing schedule she still serves on the RWA Board of directors and attends most of our MCRW meetings where she always offers encouragement to all of us to keep working towards reaching our own publishing dreams.

If your mom has any type of e-reader, Living in Color would make a wonderful Mother's Gift.
